Biography
Jessy Lindsay is a queer, bilingual indie-pop songstress. Her use of catchy, jazz-infused melodies and honest lyrics will rope you into her world. Once there, she will, in both English and French, whole-heartedly offer you her perspective on womanhood, self-confidence and reclamation of joy within patriarchal society.
Over the past decade, she has passionately developed her craft through opportunities such as Quand Ça Nous Chante (2016-2018), Jeux de la francophonie canadienne (2017), Jamais Trop Tôt (2017), Rond Point (2020) and Camp en chanson de Petite-Vallée (2016 & 2021).
Freshly graduated from the University of Ottawa, Jessy has already been putting her bachelor’s degree in classical voice and contemporary composition to use. She has recently been sound designing for live theatre as well as composing classical contemporary music for voice, instrument ensembles and choirs.
This powerhouse emerging artist has already established herself as a force to be reckoned within the Ottawa music industry, boasting recent performances at the Festival franco-ontarien, the National Arts Center and Capital Pride Main Stage.
As a dedicated advocate for local and emerging musical artists of all genres, Jessy often contributes to the industry through arts admin work. In 2023, for example, she spent the summer programming over 45 live shows through OMIC’s Songs from the Shed project for the Sparks Street BIA.
Her most recent single: “Pour toi" was created with Eric Eggleston for Bell Fibe TV’s series “La quête sonique". This song, dedicated to her late grandfather, explores how we carry on the legacy of those we’ve known and loved, even after they’ve left us. “Pour toi", her debut EP: “J’explose”(2022) as well as the rest of her singles are available on all streaming platforms.
